Obama's refusal to label Islamic State group violence as 'Muslim' extremism is angering some.

 

Speaking Wednesday at a White House summit on fighting extremism, President Barack Obama angered some by refusing to characterize violent acts by groups like the Islamic State and al-Qaida as “Muslim” terrorism. By granting such groups “religious legitimacy,” the president said, we embolden their lie that America and the West are at war with Islam. "We are not at war with Islam,” Obama stated, “we are at war with people who have perverted Islam.”

Thursday’s New York Post cover featured a blindfolded Obama with the words “Islamic terror? I just don’t see it.” Geoff Earle, a Post reporter, wrote, “They’re burning and beheading victims in the name of Islam, but President Obama delivered a major speech … while refusing to use the words 'Muslim terrorists.'”
