Two Women Accused Of New York City Bomb Plot

One of the US citizens had a number of propane tanks and instructions on how to turn them into bombs, according to reports

Authorities have arrested two women who were allegedly planning to build an improvised explosive device in New York City.
John Miller, New York Police Department's head of counter-terrorism, told AP news agency the public was never in danger.
The women viewed Islamic State group propaganda online, but there is no evidence they tried to contact the group, he added.
The pair are expected to appear in a Brooklyn federal court later on Thursday.
ABC News, which broke the story, named them as Noelle Velentzas, 27, and Asia Siddiqui, 31.
Both are reportedly US citizens who were until recently roommates in an apartment in Jamaica, Queens.
Court documents say that "Siddiqui is currently in possession of multiple propane tanks, as well as instructions for how to transform the tanks into explosive devices".
The other was said to have been "obsessed" with pressure cookers since the 2013 attack on the Boston marathon.
An undercover agent said one of the accused called Osama bin Laden her hero and praised the 9/11 attacks, reports NBC.
Such arrests have become a regular occurrence in the US in recent months.
Last week two cousins, one a National Guard member, were arrested in Chicago accused of plotting attacks in the US and overseas for Islamic State.
A New Jersey Air Force veteran, Tairod Nathan Webster Pugh, was detained last month after he was deported from Egypt to the US, accused of trying to join the jihadists.
Also last month, three New York City men were held on charges of conspiring to join Islamic State.
